How To Be A Stockings with Care Santa
Thank you for joining our 25th annual gift drive where a team of volunteers get together in a temporary donated raw space for 4 days to collect, organize and deliver the gifts Santas bring. This year our goal is to provide Christmas magic to 1600 kids.
Santas receive a wish list with 3 wishes for a New York City child whose family either lives in a homeless shelter or is in danger of being homeless. Santas shop for their child’s 3 wishes, wrap the gifts, then drop them off at the Santa’s Workshop where Stockings with Care (SWC) elves organize the gifts, make sure every child’s wish list is complete, and prepare their gifts for delivery. The gifts are then delivered to the parents or guardians. The parents give the gifts to the child, preserving their dignity, while ensuring the gifts received are the very ones the child wished for. SWC provides gifts for minors ranging from newborns through high school students and works with six partner agencies accredited by the NYC Department of Homeless Services.
For an example of how a Santa fulfills the wishes, please watch: How To Be A Santa
Please email firstname.lastname@example.org with any questions and a volunteer elf will get back to you as soon as possible.
To be a Santa for a child in need, please fill out the form below and let us know how many children you wish to sponsor and any specific comments, such as budget limitations (Avg. cost of wishlist is $100) or age/gender preference. Note that the children range in age from newborns to teenagers. An Elf will contact you with a child’s name, instructions, wishes and drop off details. Please fulfill your child’s wish list and deliver gifts to the SWC Santa’s Workshop in midtown Manhattan on Thursday, December 8 or Friday, December 9, 2016.
If unable to be a Santa this year, then please donate and volunteers will shop for you to make sure no child is without presents Christmas morning. To DONATE: click here
