We are committed to helping our city’s children feel they are cared for on Christmas morning, regardless of where they call home.
By every measure, New Yorkers have experienced a widening gap between incomes and rents. This affordability gap has been catastrophic for poor and low-income New Yorkers, who, in recent years, have seen their income fall or stagnate while apartment rents continued to rise. The widening gap between incomes and rents has contributed to rising number of evictions and, therefore, to the rising number of homeless families living in shelters.
Stockings With Care (SWC) works with six partner agencies, accredited by the NYC Department of Homeless Services and provides gifts for minors, ranging from newborns through high school students.
No kid should feel isolated or unworthy because their parents cannot afford what they most need and want. None of the gifts the children ask for are lavish. They are personal wishes that fill a small but very important desire to be loved with a gesture.
